He would not be the first that would have needed a change of scenery. The question now is how much is he willing to sacrifice to get his career back on track.-jokati

I don't follow what you mean by sacrifice.   Would he, unlike Perez accept a move to triple A?  He was never asked and it may be a long time before it could be asked of him.
Would he accept a trade?  He may love NY and his teammates, but to listen to pathetic Mets fans booing him as he was led off the field last Friday would be all the incentive he would need to get out of NY.
Jason Bay had a solid career going before being signed by the Mets.  He averaged close to .280, hit 25 Hrs and drove in 100.  Would walking into Sandy,s office and telling the GM, he is overpaid and will accept the league minimum....is that the sacrifice that will get him back on track?
He played and succeeded in Boston and in the post season, it's not the pressure.  I imagine that neither he nor anyone else knows what happened to Bay, literally overnight, that turned him into a fraction of the hitter he was.
But if there is a sacrifice that he could have made he would have already tried.

Maybe what I meant by a sacrifice is that he might take a pay cut to get out of NY. He may have had dreams of a Hall of Fame ending to his career when he initially came over to NY. These dreams may have died a rapid death once coming to NY and having his performance drop off the table. However if he was to get out of NY he still could have a number ofproductive years elsewhere if he was able to resurrect his career and get back to the 35 hrs 100 rbi seasons he has produced in the past. Of course many NY fans would say this is a pipe dream and that he no longer could produce those numbers.

The question is what might he do orsacrifice to get out of NY?

I don't think the players union will let him.  And even if they did, I don't think he'd do it.  He knows this is his last contract, and with a full healthy season next year, he automatically gets another year (not sure if there is a club buy out? but more money either way).  Remember when A-Rod tried to take a pay cut to leave Texas and the union was having none of it.  He'll have to find other ways to "sacrifice" if he wants to get out of NY.

I think I've figured out the real reason we couldn't afford to resign Reyes. Dickey didn't go mountain climbing. We spent a fortune turning him into a cyborg. The one loss in Atlanta was intentional, so we would think he's still human.

I suppose if we could turn Steve Austin into the bionic man, we could turn R.A. into Super Cy.  What bothers me, does this fall under PEDs, Performance Enhancing Devices?   Suppose we just keep this as classified on the Mets board on a need to know basis.   Agent Y out.

Well, they've got Capuano, Harang, Eovaldi and Kershaw.  Let's hope they go into that Kershaw game with at least a couple of wins under their belt.  Overall if they beat Capuano tomorrow the next two games are favorable matchups (Dickey-Harang which sounds like yet another 5th grade joke) and Santana-Eovaldi.  Then it's the game they won't be expected to win against Kershaw.  I know the starter hasn't been determined yet but I'm assuming it would be Gee.  Either way tough game.

Gotta love the run differential stat by the way.  Does this game put them on the positive side for the season?

For the record I just checked the season run differential and that game did put them on the positive side.  345 runs scored, 333 allowed.

I said that two weeks ago about a player that has crashed into two wall and fractured a rib diving for a ball.  Nothing has changed, I believe it today.

If you want an oxymoron ag, try pairing warrior with Andres Torres.  If you watched the game last night you know what I'm talking about.  Another player from the Bobby Abreu school of 'do no harm'.

I almost never use Bay's name, but I usually only speak of Bay in short phrases.  Some of these include:

"Oh my god, you suck"

Go F yourself

You overpaid piece of S

Wow he got a hit, did they just cut him a check for 126,000 dollars?

I hate you

My wife's normal catch phrase after me yelling one of these at the TV is:  "You're a damn lunatic, it's just a game" (Of course we all know better than this "It's just a game" nonsense that women and sexually preference challenged men will tell you)  You would think that 3 kids and 10 years later she would just accept it and spare me such comments.  Oh wait, unless you're married yourself, then it's probably exactly what you would expect.Laughing

Well I live in a relatively small place probably compared to many of you, so when I'm getting worked up about a game I hear way too much about it.  I'm not sure what's worse, baseball or football season but it can get a little tense around here.

That's funny stuff though about the reaction to the TV.  We're all the same I'm sure, although I'm glad to say I've gotten a little better about it over the last few years because I even started to question my sanity.

With Bay I think "warrior" might be a little much but I've got to say that most other Mets signings that were bad were bad because the guy got here and just gave up, like Bonilla, Coleman, and the rest.  Bay is not letting the boos and the bad showing take away from his aggressiveness at least.  Granted that doesn't make up for the whole thing but it says something about his character.

God Bless America.  236 years ago, the founding fathers of our great nation Declared Independence from Great Britian with signing of the Declaration of Independence with Thomas Jefferson signing first.  It would take a bloody war and 13 more years before we we became the United States of America.  Today we have the rights of religion, free speech, a free press, the right (limited) to bear arms, we have the right to vote and remain self governing.  These are what we celebrate today in what ever form we choose.  Shop, watch the ballgame, go to the beach, BBQ with friends and neighbors,  and watch the fireworks tonight.  It is great to be an American.
