OK Foot, I couldn't get the formating the way I wanted it but check this out...........looking at this team on paper and their performances so far this year, Cam Newton, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew and her recievers(injury riddled at times but still pretty solid) what might you think this teams record would be? Well, let's see. In my money league this team is 6th in points(only 10 points out of 4th though and 20+ out of 3rd). She has lost to the high score 2 times so far this year and is 1-2 in her division. Her ALL PLAY record is 39-38 ( that ranks 5th BTW)..................this team is 2-5, has lost 3 games by less than 5 points, is in my division and she is 3 games out of a playoff spot.......I have to play her again and to be honest I'm not looking forward to it. I beat her once so far but had to be high score to do it. Bottom line is you can draft a killer team, know your shit****( this chick started out pretty green but has learned) and if you are lucky win your games...........she did everything right just her schedule has been brutal.

"A famous guy" never played Fantasy Football.  Must have made that one up yourself, eh Foot?

Seriously, Foot.  Is this like your 2nd or 3rd year ever playing the game?  Otherwise you'd know this.  Have you ever just played a straight-up points league or an all-play league?  Do you even know what those are?  Or even a head-to-head league that goes by power ranking to seed playoff teams?  You constantly fail to consider and admit that head-to-head scheduling is a luck of the draw factor.  I just beat the team that's 6-0 in my one league who also leads in points scored.  Does that make my team better?  No.  I got lucky because he had Brady, Welker, and his top starting RB on a bye week.  It's luck who you play each week.  It's what I like and hate about fantasy football.  Sometimes you get lucky with a crappy team based on your schedule and sometimes that crappy team makes the playoffs and a deserving team doesn't.  Why do you think most of the guys in this league, who you consider to be experienced at this game, usually refer to the power rankings as more of a determining factor of who has the better team?

Your lack of understanding on "luck of the schedule", your "panic attack" trade, and you signing T.O. before he even gets medically evaluated by an NFL team, receives an offer and signs a contract, all point out that you don't have much experience with this game.  These are just plain old rookie moves or just complete desperation.

The call on Michael Jenkins this last week was a bulls-eye.  I'll give you that.  But it was one week. You take away the long TD and he gets his average 3 catch for 40 yards performance.  You, of all people, should realize that you can't count on TD's although some players are more likely to get them every week.  Jenkins isn't in that boat and won't be more than that for more than a game or two the rest of the way.  You fail to mention that he'd be more valuable in a PPR as a decent WR4/flex with some upside.  This is another reason why you aren't close to taking over Eisenberg's job any time soon.  You simply burble out your gut feeling and fail to give any reasons why.

Now let's delve into your incessant need to point out that your team is better than mine.  Could it be insecurity?  The need for attention, which would clearly explain those, to put it  kindly, off-the-wall rankings?  I never once said that I had a better team than you.  When you spouted your "I beat you so I'm better," I simply pointed out the shortcomings of my team and gave a plausible reason for my record.  You carried it a little further and I went to the stats which clearly showed your team on the decline and performing even worse than mine.  Were all those crazy numbers a little too much for you?  That might explain your death-grip on your record and need to shout it to anyone who will listen.  Again, I never proclaimed my team to be the better one.  I simply pointed out your team's faults after you kept blabbing that overly-inflated ego of yours and were bashing a few of us bottom feeders.

By the way, in the last 4 weeks, your team is 1-3 and scored 300 points. All us under-0.500 teams in that same time:

  • Treff 1-3 288 points
  • Duff  2-2 338 points
  • Joe   1-3 299 points
  • Wil   0-4 358 points
Welcome to our level Foot.  You are officially a bottom feeder with the rest of us.  Your boat was sinking long before Godfather Treff had his boys stick your feet in bucket full of cement and toss you off the pier.  At least none of us are trying to disguise the demise of our teams.

Morning Sam.

I can top that story.  Back in 2004, my team-for-the-ages smashed the old yearly points record by nearly 30 points a game.  The most dominant scoring team in our league's history.  I had the weekly high score 6 times and was the 2nd highest scorer the other 7 weeks.  Not too shabby.  And now comes the fun part.  Those 7 weeks I was #2 in scoring, I just happened to play the top scoring team in each of those games.  My final record was 6-7 and I missed out on the playoffs.  If I'd have made the playoffs, I had the high score all 3 weeks and would have won it all.  I have never seen anything like that before and since then.

And that is why I love and hate head-to-head schedules.  Sometimes the crappy team wins and the best team loses.  It's a double edged sword but I luck having the luck factor as part of the game.

He did look good though.........I can think of one guy who might pick him up on the wire in one of my leagues...........but to answer your question............probably not.
Sam

I posted this on the T.O. thread.............guess who the one guy is.
Sam

Hey Duff,
The first Superbowl I won in my money league I was 8-6, middle of the pack in points but the last 3 weeks I was top scorer in the league. The reason I won? Billy Volek, Rueben Droughns and that Bennet kid I picked off the wire. The one I won in this league last year I was high points guy, 11-3 and had one of the best FF teams I have ever had. The reason I won? Correct me if I am wrong, but I am sure it was the Vikings D that just killed Michal Vick and the Eagles in their Monday Night matchup, but dude had DJax, Shady and Aikers going and I had a 17 point lead.....they only scored 15 and that was the 2nd round of playoffs. Aikers missed a FG in that game too, hit it straight but scuffed his foot before he hit it.

Nice, Sam.

I had another team that started off 0-5-1 and was lowest scoring team at that point.  I made some good waiver pickups and I must have hit 95% or better of possible points each week.  I wound up going 6-0-1 in the second half and beat all the right people since I barely squeaked into the playoffs on our 4th tie-breaker.  My team got super-hot right at the end and I knocked off the #1, #2, and #3 seeds on my way to winning it all.  I had no business even being in the playoffs with the 3rd lowest scoring team in the league.

An in my opinion that is the beauty of H2H leagues..............you are never really out of it. We have one team this year that is 5-2. He has Fred Jackson, Ravens D and a bunch of scrubs...................week 5 he picked up Seattle D with the Ravens on bye.....................they scored 40+ for him that week.....................his keeper was Sam Bradford.

Last year I had the best team in my money league and got beat in the first round by the worst team in the playoffs who ended up winning the league. Sucked but it's also the beauty of it.

As far as that trade goes I still don't see how Foot is going to come out better but the good part is we will find out. Unlike a true nc in college football this will play out.

I htink most of us who have been around this hobby for any real length of time, could have multiple stories along those same lines, it happens all the time.  Hell, happens in real football all the time too.  Were the Dolphin's a better team than the '85 Bears?  were the Giants a better team then the 18-0 Patriots?  Maybe for that one day they were, but as far as being a better team?  No one has ever made that argument.
Your right though Foot, when Bill Parcells said, you are who your record says you are, that's correct, And you are, as your record indicates, the luckiest team thus far in the league.  Just like the Giants record showed they were luckily Super Bowl Champions, even though history proves the Patriots are the better team.

DUB - is a veto cool with you? If so I'll veto.

And about all-play and H2H, this is a league with a champion per CBS, and the champion is decided solely by who wins the final matchup.

We will, of course, recognize points leaders, breakdown leaders, and power rankings leaders. But then there will be two more weeks.

Setting yourself up for the playoffs, and setting yourself (and, to some small extent, the other team) up for head-to-head matchups is part of the game, at least in this league. In an all-play league we might do our add/drops and trades a little differently.

And Duff, Captain Cleveland, give us the real story: is Peyton Hillis getting married this week to a pregnant woman? Last year, everything seemed so simple for him: run ball, catch ball.

Hey guys, quick question in my money league. 12 teams no PPR. Line up is:

QB Matthew Stafford
RB Arian Foster
RB Peyton Hillis
WR Miles Austin
WR Hakeem Nicks
WR Wes Welker
WR Greg Little
TE JimmyGraham
K WW Pickup
D New Orleans

Bench
Daniel Thomas
Ben Tate
James Starks
Roddy White
Danario Alexander(probably will drop him for a QB)
Torrey Smith

Hillis just had a setback and Thomas didn't practice............so who would you start in place of Hillis..........Thomas? My honest opinion is I might just chance starting Foster and Tate. I know I won't get much out of Tate but I think it is better than a zero! You guys got any bright ideas? I'm going against the guy with the lowest point total so far this year but he has good match ups and this will not be a cake walk!

That's the rumor going around.  Some of these rumors say he's getting married Thurs or Fri and a few others say he got married on Tues or Wed.  Nothing has been confirmed one way or another.  One article I read had this to say:

After searching the city of Fayetteville’s website for public records on weddings and not finding anything, we contacted the Washington County Clerk. They had no record of a Peyton Hillis getting married. Next we searched the Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) records and couldn’t find anything about a Peyton Hillis getting married there either. We’re waiting response from the Faulkner County City Clerk to see if Hillis might have filed for a marriage license in his hometown of Conway. We’ll update once we hear back from them.

About the only thing else I know is that he should play against the 49ers but his hamstring is still sore and he should be listed as questionable.  All in all, he's a poor fantasy start against a solid defense.  At best he'll probably split carries with Hardesty in what could be another 6-3 game with little offense like the Browns had last week against the Seahawks.

I'd like to thank everyone for thier understanding this morning on the whole trade deal, and especially DUB..your a stand up guy, thanks!!

I'm not sure i can blame losing the league entirely on this, but three years ago the same thing happened in a CBS league to me.  I even wrote a lengthy message in the little box explaining as to why this trade was so absolutely ridiculous, and then hit "accept" instead of "reject and counter"  Unfortunately this particular league wasn't as forgiving.  I neded up facing that team in the playoffs and the players that i dind't want to trade, thrashed me!
So agian, thanks for putting up with my brain fart this morning!
Note to self, dirnk that first cup of coffee BEFORE chekcing football trade offers!!

Sam-

After watching the Ravens and Jaguars play the other night, not sure I'd start Tate.  Foster may have his hands full enough as it is and will probably get most of the carries.  I'd go with Scapegoats idea and find the best waiver wire guy.  If Bush and Thomas are still banged up, maybe Lex Hilliard (Dolphins) could be another option or Keiland Williams (Lions).

Thanks, Duff! Really everybody should leave the poor guy alone, but he's becoming a pretty funny story.

Sam, if Thomas is active I'd play him regardless, but if he's not and Hillis is, I'd play Hillis. Otherwise Tate, or even your you-got-him-first pickup Kendall Hunter (arrgggh! Sportboy!) if he's available in your league, since he seems to get reliable touches regardless of matchup.

And Treff, it looks like your trade was shot down by friendly fire.
