Message Board Braggin' Rights League

December 5, 2011 7:24 pm

Hey Will, up 22 in money league with Novak going against Mathews and Rivers. More than likely not gonna hold on. Here, I have VJax and down 14.............so even though I lose $10 everytime I win in my money league, I think I will be rooting for VJax to just go off. The way the other scoring system is set up, if VJax catches 2TD's that are 10 yards or less, Rivers only would total 5 points for those 2 throws..........odds are pretty good I win one of these games but pretty much impossible to win both. Pisses me off because I scratched MoMo for Starks last minute..........

Well gents this league has been a pleasure.  Ole Lefty is down to his last breath.  I'm sort of torn on pulling against VJac since my son needs a good game out of him in another league.  Then again, what I do won't affect the his performance anyway - - sooo, VJac you can get 12 pts but no more.
Regardless of the outcome this has been one of the more fun leagues.  The fact that is was free (except for bragging rights) allowed us all to do some things that we may not normally do - take a few chances with trades, lineups, etc.  I've also learned a lot from you guys and made some good moves as well as bad ones.  I'm still having a hard time understanding how I could score so many points week to week and end up with 6 or more losses - but that's head-to-head fantasy fortune.  Funny but I'm not in the top three in scoring in my other leagues but yet I'll end up one of the top seeds in each of them - hmmm.  Guess since they are all pay leagues I should count my blessings.
Anyway, although my postings have gone down, I do read this blog pretty much everyday.  I've been so ravaged by injuries in the other leagues that it's taken most of my energy searching waiver to come up with a non-broken RB's to get me a few points.  Knock on wood - it's been working.  Hope to keep this going next year and beyond.

I'd vote for a flex position next year and have no preference on ppr or non-ppr.

BY THE SKIN OF HIS TEETH

Well, it worked out perfectly for Lefty and Son with VJAX getting 13. Which means VJAX failed by a single point to clinch it for Sam, so Lefty and Sam will battle it out next week for the final Wild Card spot.

And DUB has clinched the rough-and-tumble West.

Third, Fuzzy is killing everybody lately and is just a sniff from taking the points title from Lefty.

Playoff seeds at the moment look like this:

#1 DUB 10-3 (1300 PF)
#2 one4 9-4 (1323 PF)
#3 Fuzzies 8-5 (1335 PF)
#4 Sam 8-4 (1284 PF) or Lefty 7-6 (1337 PF)

And it won't be true for long, but I'll point put that although just 6-6, Scape actually was leading the league in breakdown. But not after the standings update tonight.

BOTTOM DWELLERS

Now, let's cast our eyes toward the bottom of the league. Who will come in last?

Our leading candidate is Treff, who will stay there unless he beats the Fuzzy juggernaut. If he does beat Fuzzy and gets to 5-9, his fate comes down to the Duff vs. Foot rematch. If Treff wins, a loss by Duff puts Duff in the cellar, but if Treff wins and Duff wins, it becomes a points-for contest between Treff and Foot. If a victorious Treff outscores a losing Foot by 32, Foot will fall to the bottom.

For those keeping score, their respective records since The Trade: Foot 1-5, Treff 3-3

---

In Pick 'Em, Fuzzy has basically won it, barring an 0-6 for him paired with a 6-0 for Sam.

Fuzzy 48-30 (4-2 this week)
Sam 43-35 (2-4)
Scape 42-36 (3-3)
Duff 37-35 (2-4)
wilwhite 36-42 (4-2)
Foot 31-34 ( - )
Joe 29-25 (3-3)
Treff 26-34 ( - )

their respective records since The Trade: Foot 1-5, Treff 3-3
its worth mentioning that I had all of ONE damned win since that deal..and since that deal I've lost RDMC and Vick, so Tongue out!!

Sorry I haven't been on much the past few weeks, I've got finals, I had that crazy week before thanksgiving, and then of course, the holiday itself..been crazy here!
And I haven't gotten to watch nearly as much football as I'd like, so I don't even feel comfortable giving out advice.  In fact, watching the Packers game, I was like "who the hell is this Saine kid, and what the hell happened to Starks/Grant?"

So I'll be watching our last week and the playoffs with a curious eye, but my advice for the year is basically..blah!!

Treff, you're 3-3 since the trade -- you beat Joe, Boomers and Scape -- and Foot's only win since came against you.

Wil thanks for the acknowledgement. I'm still leading the league in points against. Several weeks of tough luck. But a 6-7 record is what it is.

Okay, for the Make Believe Absolutely Doesn't Count Dry Run of the rule for limiting an opponent's player, it's time to pick your Superstar - the guy on your own roster you'd want to make sure wouldn't be affected if we were doing this for real.

I'll pick some for myself and for some teams I suspect won't jump in (but these guys can feel free to post and tell us different if they like).

Week 14 Superstars (opponent cannot select them to be contained)
White Knuckles: Cam Newton (v. Atlanta)
Lefty Power: Ray Rice (v. Indy)
Boomers Bandoleros: Wes Welker (at Washington)
One4football: LeSean McCoy (at Miami)

Remember, everybody: this doesn't count! Just a thought experiment so we can see what the effect would be. So please jump in with the guy you'd want to protect. Questions welcome.

I have not followed this discussion very closely, but if I understand it correctly- my player that I would not want to have blocked from his earned points would be Brees.

That's right, Fuzzy. (Bearing in mind that you're protecting Brees from losing 1/3 points since he's a QB. Duff is protecting Foster from losing 1/2 points.)
