Go Buffs...good to hear from You guys....

Az St. bounced back from losing the QB to Wazzu. they've recieved commitments from Ga. QB Joshua Dobbs, a 4 star and AZ LB Chans Cox, don't know his ranking. That gives Az St. 4 commits.

I saw somebody a few pages back picked the Buffs to go 0-9 in conference. No way in heck that happens. The Buffs will be much improved this year. I think a 4-5 conf. record isn't out of the question.

Right now they have no strengths. The uncertainty of the Dan Hawkins era really affected recruiting and as you saw last year the Buffs had NO SPEED of any kind. While that may not be as big a deal in the BIG XII it was devestating in the PAC12. Until we recruit some speed at the skill positions, which I think they have a good start on, we will be behind.

I think the coaching staff is an improvement and last year was about raising expectations not just during games but during practice. The Buffs have a lot of NFL experience in their coaching staff and they needed it to show guys how to practice.

One position I'm excited about is QB. Connor Wood is a transfer from Texas and they have a highly recruited QB Shane Dillon.

In a couple years CU will be amongst the big dogs in the PAC12.

cubufffan1, good place to start. QB is the right position. I see the Buffs will run a deficit financially in 2012. The football program borrowing, what? million from the school to run the program until the full Pac-12 monies arrive? How do see that the Pac-12 monies will affect the program

Not sure how it will affect the football program. They are already renovating the Dal Ward Center (the football offices). And installing a practice bubble. How I think it will affect CU is in other areas. CU has no baseball, no womens softball. They need to upgrade the whole athletic department to be a true PAC12 player.

One huge disadvantage we have here in Colorado is that public employees are prohibited from having multi-year contracts. Only the head coaches have multi-year contracts. The asst coaches have to work year to year and in the uncertain world of asst coaches it is hard to find guys willing to take on that uncertainty. I think that's one reason they stocked the coaching staff with ex-buffs. Guys who really want to be here.

Living 100 yards from the Canadian border, i see the "local" Canadian football league team, the B.C. Lions, had their first pre-season game yesterday.... it's getting closer....( it REALLY screws up my cell phone carrier, around 300 a month in roaming charges that never happened. Gotta fix it every month....

Maybe some of the Trojans fans can answer this one because, frankly, I'm confused.

Yesterday the Trojans recieved a commit from another O-lineman for the 2014 season. This one, Toa Lobendahn, a Lakewood high junior, 6'3", 245lb OT/DT recieved the offer from USC and promptly accepted.

First we get a commit from a 6'8" , (too big?) now a 245lber(too small?). What's going on here???

We have 15 or so schollies for 2014, depending on transferes, eligiblity issues, injuries and we getting commits a year plus before it's really necessary?

What is the Kiffin/Haden game plan for these three years? Are we washing out 2014 to re-build for 2015 and full scholarships? I don't get it. I need some of those rocket-scientist alums to explain this in monosylables so this simple trucker understands......

I am looking forward to it, also. Just waiting to see which channels I will get through Time-Warner. I am hoping to at least get the regional and national PAC channels.

From what I've read, the O-linemen position in high school is pretty weak this year. USC will have 12 scholarship O-linemen in 2013, assuming no one leaves early for any reason, so this position is not a high priority for this year's recruiting. USC will take a top O-lineman if one commits, but it is not a position of absolute need for next year. The D-line and RB positions are thin at USC, and the receiving and DB positions in high school are very strong this year. That is where I expect to see most of the remaining scholarships going. USC is taking linemen in 2014, because they are better then most of what will be available for USC this year.

USC has up to 18 scholarships for next year. 3 can count back to 2012 (it appears Cravens, Browne, and Fitts will be the early enrollees), and 15 for 2013. There are 15 scholarships available for 2014. All of this can change if any 2013 or 2014 signees end up leaving after 1 year, allowing USC to replace that scholarship. There are players leaving from every school every year, so this is very likely. USC can never have more than 75 on scholarship until the 2015 season, but it will take until either 2016 or 2017 to get to the full 85 scholarships, due to the 25 annual limit. USC will be playing with a reduced roster for at least 4 more years, and probably 5 or 6 years.

I am still not a big fan of the Leach hire but I would've been completely against him if he did not land Bruggman. According to all reports his dad wanted him to be a Coug. I can't get too pissed about losing a 4 star QB to an offense that does not use a QB if it is a top program like LSU (still bugs me though) but ASU is now going to a run game, no offense but good luck with that in the Pac-12. Stanford and SC can do the power run game because SC can get the top lineman recruits and nearly all of Stanford's athlete are more powerful than athletic (and a man named Andrew Luck helped turn that program a little as well)

I still do not understand how Arizona State is not a powerhouse in every sport not just (well use to dominate baseball) I have been down their twice and how bringing in a recruit for a visit does not make him want to leave is beyond me, grils weather, weathly people just offering if you wanted to fill out their golf group, doesn't take much to get a degree..what is there nou to love about ASU. Erickson got good players to WSU, won a championship located right outside of the "hood" how the hell could he not get a winner at ASU without scheduling patsies? Much like my amazement at how Hackett did squat for SC.

4SoCalFan, One part i don't get. Assuming we stay at that 75 man roster all the way through this period, 2015 we increase our scholarships back to the 25 limit, ten more, then the 75 we've maintained is increased by those 10 additional to "85". Why would it take multiple years?

Because we won't be at 75 after 2014, unless no one leaves or goes early to the NFL. As of right now, assuming no other players leave prior to their full 4 years, or 5 years if they have already redshirted, USC is scheduled to lose 17 players after the 2014 season, and 20 players after the 2015 season. 75-17=58. If you add the maximum 25 players in 2015, USC will have 83 scholarship players in 2015. It will be 83-20=63 going into 2016. USC could be at 85 in 2016, but, there are always players leaving the program early for various reasons, and USC can't recruit more than 25 a year.

Odds are, that more than 3 players will leave early, for various reasons, between now and 2015, leaving USC under 85 scholarships until at least 2017. USC has had an average of 4 players leave the program early each year over the last 7 years. If that pattern hold true, USC will be at only 67 scholarship players, after a full recruiting class, heading into the 2016 season, and it would take until at least 2019 to get up to 85.

The NCAA totally screwed USC, and they will be probably be playing short handed for at least 5 years, and probably 8 or 9 years.

4SoCal,

I thought that 85 was the "hardcap" and that a school can sign over 25 as long as it doesn't put a school over the 85 limit?
